Ethics Workshop: Misplaced Trust | Devastating Fraud

Monday, March 11, 2019

  • 7:30am to 8:00am : Check-In, Networking & Breakfast
  • 8:00am to 10:00am : Ethic Workshop

This interactive, facilitator-led workshop will be presented by Ginger White, Current Chair of IMA Global Board of Directors, and Lisa Book, Lecturer in Accounting at IU Southeast.

Based on a real-life IMA Educational Case Journal (IECJ) study, "Lack of Internal Controls: Beaumont Independent School District," you will be introduced to an intriguing examination of the misappropriation of funds by an administrator in the Beaumont Independent School District (BISD) through the use of a false identity and several accounting schemes.

This workshop examines the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO) internal control framework, and how management accountants can contribute to ensuring strong internal controls, fraud prevention, and an ethical climate that encourages excellent overall corporate governance. Earn 2 NASBA CPE credits, and expect to have a little fun also!

Registration required by March 5 to attend. The event is free thanks to Louisville IMA and Indiana University Southeast.
