Summary
Recent guidance from the IMA and COSO has spoken to the expanded role of accounting and finance in ESG reporting. Major legislation around the world points toward ESG reporting being mandatory in many countries. Still, the definition of ESG is unsettled, leaving many confused about what it is and what ESG means for accounting and finance professionals. This session seeks to clarify what ESG is, how ESG impacts a firm's risk profile, why it is important for accounting and finance professionals, and how management accountants can be strategic business partners in this area of growing importance.
